Quinceanera

It's Hispanic Heritage Month, so for pretty much the only time this year, Syracuse's latino populations, which are fairly large, are getting some attention here. This was an assignment with incredible potential if anyone in the paper food chain had a brain. For a reason I can't quite grasp, the reporter (an intern) went out of her way to specify that all that was needed was coverage of the party afterwards, ignoring the previous four hours in which thirty 15-year-olds get dressed up and hop in a limo and ride around and go through a blessing ceremony at a church. THAT'S not interesting, is it? There could have been a full package there. And the photo department didn't have their eyeballs working to catch that potential either, so they give me another assignment right before which, try as I did, I could not squirm out of. Ahh well, live and learn. I'll get the real quinceanera when I move to Mexico. This thing could have been a reality TV show. Come to think of it- is there one already?

2 and 4 are my favorites! I'm interning at the Jackson Citizen-Patriot in Michigan...after a long summer of wondering around and getting broke!
What the poop are you doing yourself? I see you're in NY?
