Summer nights in Central New York are really like nothing else. You can say that anywhere I suppose, but come on... If you've lived it, you know it. Concluding my night shifts seemed a suitable time to pull out photos from my night drives home along the dark country roads, which are quite often sweetly enjoyable. Fields literally buzz with night life so that the hum speeds through your open window, and the smells nearly knock you out, altered from the sun-baked aromas. Earthy corn husks mix with honeyed milkweed and dried wheat fields. It's all so filling, your sobriety would probably dwindle if there were more than the 10 hours of it.

Distant lightning brought an eerie glow to a corn field. Resting the camera on my steering wheel while on bulb for 45 seconds required some very zen-esque breathing, and I still only got 2 out of 10 shots in focus. Yet something about this jarred shot made me feel it more, made it mystical and magical.

A cosmos of fireflies along a country road. This one particular field was like no other...I'm not sure what it is they're attracted to, but it was like turning the galaxy upside down.
